IROKO

We are back from vacation and collecting again. Iroko will be available until mid-September, at which time, he returns to Holland.

Huge news for Shooting Star Farm and North American breeders.....Iroko is a new KEUR stallion with the KWPN!!!!

Congratulations to Iroko's newly approved KWPN son, Undercover (Iroko x Libero H)!

Iroko continues to be the highest KWPN ranked producer of jumpers standing in North America. He joins the ranks of Roemer, Zeoliet, and Contango as being one of four keur stallions ever imported to the USA.

note to breeders: The 2004 season will be Iroko's last season standing in North America. He will return to Holland for the 2005 season. Iroko will continue to stand at the unbelievably low stud fee of $1,000., payable upon pregnancy; return service with high quality frozen semen, once the entire stud fee is paid.

We are taking our first family vacation since the kids were both in diapers...consequently, Iroko will be unavailable for collection from August 6th through the 17th. Otherwise, Iroko will be collected on an "as needed" basis until he returns to the Nijhofs in early September.

Details on collection fees, registry activations and offspring results are forthcoming.

The Tolman family is excited to announce our newest stallion ... Coromino! Thanks to GW Ranch for working with us to make this purchase possible. More details will be announced on our site in the coming days.

... and let the foaling begin!

Zilena SSF (Iroko x Freestyle x Nimmerdor)
And yet another phenomenal filly! Looks like the Z year is going to be SSF's future broodmare year. Our last foal of the year is a fourth of July filly out of one of the most exciting mare lines in the world. This mare line not only produced the KWPN approved stallion, Ulft, sire of Olympic Ferro, but also the granddam of this filly produced Rilena, the 2003 European Champion mare, and Vilena, the 2003 Champion foal of the Netherlands. Needless to say, we are delighted to have a representative of this line in the SSF mareband.

Zirkia (Iroko x Fairfield's Fortune)
If all of the Morgan cross babies come out this pretty, we may never breed another full Dutch horse again! Keagan Tolman is the proud new owner of a lovely chestnut filly with huge Morgan eyes and gorgeous Iroko conformation. Pictures coming soon.

Zippitty (Iroko x Beth)
My, my, my! Talk about a big filly! This Percheron cross girl is already showing us huge leaps into the air, amazing talent for collection, and a very determined personality. She is a very solid, leggy, bay filly with a lightening stripe down her face.

ZaVita SSF (Contango x Elcaro x Belisar) Yes! A Contango filly out of LaVita for SSF!!!! Doing the happy dance! Long-lined, elegant, dark brown filly with two whites on the left a lovely small star.

Zion SSF (Freestyle x Pion x Michelangelo) I've hesitated to make any announcements about this boy because he was born really early, and I haven't been sure that he was going to make it. Well, he's a tough little bugger and hanging in there. He's tall, tall, tall! "Booger" has the typical Freestyle top line and legginess. Keep your fingers crossed for him.

Zoladaula SSF (Farrington x Hierarch x Michelangelo) We are absolutely delighted with the arrival of Daula filly with a double Doruto pedigree! Someone has got to tell me which Dutch line produces Red Duns, though! What a surprise... pale dun body color with a red mane and tail... and a red dorsal stripe.

Zirona SSF (Freestyle x Volkmar x Rechter) Freestyle continues to produce some of our best foals. Here's a filly that is born and bred to be a dressage horse! She's a super, modern dressage type. This filly is BIG, black, and has future SSF broodmare written all over her. Keagan has already asked if he can keep her...

Ziroko SSF (Iroko x Vincent x Elcaro) If "Rocky" is any indication, we're going to have a phenomenal foaling year at SSF. Imagine Iroko as a foal, and you've got this guy; bright chestnut, huge blaze coming down over his nose, and four whites. He's really lovely--uphill conformation, gorgeous Arab-like head, and super, super balanced. This is Thea's first foal (and LaVita's first grandchild!); we'll be thrilled if she continues to produce like this. PHOTO

"Scot, The horse is delightful! Really kind and well-settled. You are going to have a lot of fun with him - he's so easy. Once he settled in here, he became a real puppy dog - very quiet. Thanks for sending him here. It's always a pleasure."

Sharon Clarke,
Rigbie Farm CEM Quarantine

OK. I keep knocking on wood every time I think about my latest conversation with Jim Koford about Donatelli. But, I keep getting more and more excited about this stallion. Here are some pieces of our conversation:

"You did good! This horse is really something special. . . He is an absolute powerhouse under saddle. . . His temperament is incredible; he never puts a foot wrong. . . We're going to be racking up some high scores with the stallion."
